Can our diet alone help us heal from cancer?


If we look at the typical oncologist’s viewpoint which is that diet makes no difference at all for healing from cancer, then we are already in trouble.  I believe it is irresponsible advise as many cancer patients are told by doctors to eat anything they want.

Higher consumption of foods rich in sugar and refined carbs, as well as processed and overcooked meat, can increase your levels of inflammation. In addition, higher dairy consumption has been linked to hormone related cancers such as breast and prostate cancer.  These are foods that create inflammation in every cell of our body, therefore, to promote healing we need to give our cells the best environment possible to allow healing to take place.

Healing from cancer requires the simultaneous application of not only good nutrition, but nutraceuticals that correct nutritional deficiencies, stress reduction techniques, releasing suppressed emotions, using integrative treatments options and other lifestyle modifications. It is both an inside and outside job!

O = Organic
W = Wholefood

The key is consuming plenty of cancer-fighting foods with antioxidants and natural anti-inflammatory phytonutrients. This means avoiding packaged and processed foods and focusing on only those that do not contain antibiotics, chemicals or toxins. Buying foods that are organic, grass-fed, pasture-raised and additive-free can greatly lower the toxic load of your diet.

So in summary food plays a hugely important role in out healing from and preventing disease, however is cant be our only focus as we must also adopt the lifestyle changes for our healing to be optimised.
